Every town needs a superhero, and Universal Studios was well protected today with over fifty awesome musicians/superheroes! We started off the morning performing a concert that was part of Universal's "Lights, Camera, Music!" Program.



The drive to the studios was filled mountainous scenery and a weight of movie-making history. When we exited the coaches, we entered the park on the red carpet and walked through the towering main gates of Universal Studios. 



For many of us, the biggest highlight of visiting Universal Studios Hollywood was the Studio Tour. This tram tour of the Universal Studios back lot lasted an hour in length and was packed with incredible glimpses into movie and television history. We viewed the plane crash from War of the Worlds, came face to face with Norman Bates from Psycho, drove through Wisteria Lane from ABC’s Desperate Housewives, saw some of the explosive special effects of the Fast and the Furious: Extreme Close-Up, we witnessed Jaws lurking beneath the waters of Amity Island, got caught in the middle of a battle between a giant T-Rex and King Kong, and experienced several other amazing events that could only ever happen in the movies!



Other attractions included Transformers The Ride 3D, The Simpsons Ride, Revenge of the Mummy The Ride, Shrek 4D, Jurassic Park The Ride, The Adventures of Curious George, Terminator 2 3D, WaterWorld, Universal Studios Special Effects Stage, Universal’s Animal Actors, The NBC ​House of HorrorsUniversal Experience, and Universal's House of Horrors.



After fourteen hours of movie magic, the orchestra boarded the coaches and traveled back to our hotel in Buena Park. Thanks for reading this installment of the 2012 Granite Youth Symphony Summer Tour Log!
